The Soave production area is in the eastern part of the hills in the province of Verona, recognisable everywhere as a gentle and soothing landscape, dotted with castles, churches, bell towers and stately homes that bear witness to its past and modern history.

The whole area is favoured with a mild climate, with winters that are not too cold and moderate summers. The hilly areas are generally clay loam, rich in minerals and organic matter, sometimes considerably varied, especially in the Monteforte d’Alpone area.

Bertani grows Garganega grapes in the Sereole "cru", on Monte Tondo, between the municipalities of Soave and Monteforte d’Alpone, in moderately deep, clayey, mineral soils, rich in organic matter, essential for the production of full-bodied white wines with elegant fruity notes and surprising longevity.

The grapes that go to making the Le Lave wine are grown in the neighbouring vineyards (Garganega and Chardonnay). The soil the wine gets its name from is very dark and of lava-basalt origin; during the day it stores the sun’s heat and then releases it at night, which favours excellent grape ripening.
