Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Classification

Harmony

A difficult summer but with a good period of ripening from the end of August onwards.

Tasting Notes

This is the first vintage under the current winemaking team, and the style is modern but classic Bertani, emphasising clarity of fruit expression, freshness and finesse rather than density or power. A nose of liquorice and sour red fruits. In the mouth, savoury, dry and only mid-weight. Gentle raspberry fruit on the finish. A sleek, modern style, demonstrating purity of fruit expression, acid-driven tension and streamlined energy. Still tight and only for purists at present, but another 5-10 years will yield additional complexity of flavour and will soften the whole. — MW Nick Jackson

A fresh, young vintage of the highest quality, thanks to a dry and cool harvest period, with magnificent nights and low humidity.

Style

Harmony

These wines are balanced, classically proportioned, showing grace, equanimity and poise. Usually they show more vibrancy than the gentle wines, but less flamboyance than the exuberant wines. These are closest to the Bertani house style.
