Soave Bertani

For many years Soave has been seen as a high point for quality in the world’s production of white wines and, as a result, has been one of the world’s best sellers. Over time, success led to increased production and more commercial re-interpretations of the wine. But Bertani wanted to stay faithful to its production philosophy. With Soave Vintage, we want to re-evoke the traditional style that was principally designed to exalt the sensory characteristics of the garganega grape, through vinification according to techniques that call for part of fermentation to take place on the skins, a process common with red wines. This method also brings out the natural aromatic qualities of Garganega. In the era when that Soave Bertani was served at the luncheon celebrating the coronation of King George VI, the choice of grapes was obvious – there were only hillside grapes, and there was no need to partially dry them to guarantee a wine that was worthy of a king’s table.
